You guys may have noticed that my old www.wendykathleenart.com website is gone and in it's place is something NEW. I felt it was time for a change. I'm really excited about the direction the website is going and I hope all of you enjoy it. It's not finished yet so hold on a little while longer. By July/Aug. it should be 100% go. |

I finally have some time to update all of you since Konnor was born. Here is a pic of my new little elf baby.
I also have been working on some new paintings. The first is called First Love and was inspired by a picture I took of my artist friend Jackie and my son Konnor.
The next painting is called Kelsey's Wee One and is taken from a pic of Konnor and our babysiter.
The last one is my favorite and most important. It's in honor of my artist friend Selina Fenech who has breast cancer. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

| Baby Update.....and some pics! |

Konnor Wimond McElfish joined us on Feb. 11th. Although I have next to no time right now trying to organize two little boys, my mind is overflowing with ideas on what to paint! I'm so ready to put paint to paper again. (pictures in my next post....coming as soon as they upload).
My first project is going to be one for a family member, so you'll have to hang tight until I can do a new painting for all of you. Hint, hint, it's going to have wings to it.
Now on to some fun that I stole from two favorite fairy mommy artist friends Jessica and Jacqualine
1.) If I were a doll, the accessories packaged with me would be: chop sticks, jeans, white tank and flip flops, watercolors, brown lipstick.
2.) I have an irrational fear of: Flying in planes. I had no trouble with this as a kid because I lived in my head. Now I can't wrap my mind around all that weight flying that high in the sky.
3.) What type of food do you eat at your grandparents house? When my grandma was alive we would get treated to donutes, something I'd never get at home.
4.) What weight were you when you were born? 7lbs. 2oz
5.) What would you do if you were stranded on an island with the person you hate most? Run to the other side of the island
6.) What would you do if you found out you had been cheated on? Walk away with my two boys in tow.
7.) Do you stalk anyone on myspace? I'd have to have the time to do this.
8.) I find the thought of childbirth: Just finished it for the second time and plan on 2 more in the future.
9.) Next door to my house is? My house is connected to other houses but I do have a park on the left side of the house.
10.) My nails are: acrylic and clear colored. This is one of my little vices. I've been getting my nails done since 1991. I'm addicted!
11.) The last person to call me was: My husband
12.) Why is your (myspace) 1 your 1? My little boy Kaleb.
13.) Know how to cook? Yep, but it only tastes good to me.
14.) I am annoyed with: Can't say
16.) What child-related smell do you not like? Brussell sprouts cooking.
17.) What sea creature scares you? Sharks and eles
18.) What color hair do most of the people you are around have? Blond
19.) What object have you broken most recently? A wood duck in my sons bathroom

21.) What's the biggest difference between you and your ex? Music/movies/books....he's a total Van Halen listening, stars wars book reading boy.
22.) What do you drink from when you drink? Milk cartoon and orange juice....ok the wine bottle also.
23.) My favorite shoes are: My flip flops (formally know as thongs).
24.) Can you use chopsticks? Learned in Japan at age 12
25.) Do you prefer beaches or forests? Beaches at night only.
26.) Who's your third text from? What??? Huh??
27.) Who knows a secret or two about you? I'm an open book
28.) Have you ever burned yourself? Mostly my tongue

| Baby Update |

Wow, it has been a long time since I've posted an update. I am in nesting mode right now.......Feb.11th is the big day for the arrival of Konnor Witmond McElfish. Here is his 4-D ultra sound
Needless to say, I will be busy over the next month or so. Hopefully I will get back to the painting table and be able to produce some new works. Until then, I want to leave you with some paintings I did before Christmas that I forgot to post. It was inspired by my fellow fantasy artist friend Selina Fench.
The second one I'm leaving you with I"m not as happy with, but am going to show it and sell it anyway. Funny how sometimes you have these great ideas in your head and then they just don't turn out the way you want on paper. That's what happened with this little one.
This last one I really liked the girl, but do not like what I did with the background. I am be changing it someday but for now I'll show you Classical Movement.

Wow, it's been so long since I've updated my site here. You'll all have to forgive me. I've been sooooooooooo beyond busy. I have just opened my new website called Zodiac Babiez http://www.zodiacbabiez.com

It's been a long time since I've updated here, so you will all have to forgive me, but I have been busy painting. The first piece is called Tears From Heaven. It's a mixed media piece done in coffe (yes coffee), acrylic, pastel, colored pencil and crayon. It's about 30"x22"
This image is for my Protection Wings series www.protectionwings.com and is for Autism Protection
The Angel of Light is for the back of a book that I was asked to illustrate (more on this later)
A Touch of Innocence is a very special piece that I did of my husband and son. It's done in acrylic and house spakel. I took the picture this summer and just had to turn it into a painting.
This is also for the Protection Wings site and is for those suffering with Bi-Polar/Depression

| New Protection Wings and Fairy Baby |

I've just finished two new paintings from two different series. The first is part of my protection wings series www.protectionwings.com
It is the Protector from Eating Disorders. This one is the most personal of all for me because I suffered from both A. and B. for over 17 years. This was a very important piece for me to have a part of the collection. Please feel free to pass this image on to others you know that may be suffering from an eating disorder. I also will have up on the site later this week many different gifts and prints with this image on it.
The next painting is the last for the new Fairy Baby series www.threefairybabies.com that I am doing with two other BIG fairy artists. I am so excited about this new project with two artist that I admire artistically and love personally as good friends. This image is taken from a photo of me and Kaleb when he was only 2 days old. I wanted to a fairy mother and baby painting as part of the collection.

Right now you can only get the charms at the protection site and the cell phone stuff on my normal site, but within two wings you can get them at both places.
I am also in the process of changing my main website, so I will keep you posted on when that will be done.
I also have in the works a new website called Three Fairy Babies http://www.threefairybabies.com
It is a really fun and special project that I am doing with fantasy/fairy artists Jessica Galbreth http://www.enchanted-art.com and Jacqueline Collen-Tarrolly http://www.toadstoolfarmart.com . You can't see our art on the site just yet, but you can read a little about what we are doing. Since we are all friends, are all fairy artists and all had our babies a month apart, we thought that it would be a great idea to do this little project. I will give you all a sneak peak at my fairy baby paintings.
Yes, the last one is based off of my cute and adorable son Kaleb. I did the last painting, "Moon Swing Faery" really big, which I haven't done in about 3 years. I use to always paint that big, but have since been painting at a size around 14 x 17. I think this one might have to stay with me and not be sold.
Maybe it's just being a new mother, but I have felt soooooooooooooo moved to paint images that are light, innocent and happy. This new line is the result.
I am also currently working on two new images for the Protection Wings site: Depression/Mental Illness and Eating Disorders.
I believe both of these are causes that are often overlooked or made jest of as not really a problem but a choice. I believe otherwise.
I have been informed that my breast cancer protection wings image is going to be used on shirts in NYC at a Marc Bolan/T.Rex tribute concert on June 1st at Don Hill's in Manhattan. All the musicians (Performers are to include Skid Row , Rolan Bolan , Frankenstein 3000 (the frontman of which is a Sirius satellite radio personality and will use his show to help promote the gig), and two British T.Rex tribute bands (Rarn and Jeepster). are performing without compensation, and the proceeds are being donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I wish I lived close enough to go. It is going to be a great event, so if you are in the area.....GO and then tell me what a great time you had.

This painting is taken from a photo of me and my new son Kaleb. I am dedicating this painting to ALL MOTHERS, for I believe it is one, if not thee biggest fear of Mothers all over the world.

| New Year Ahead |

Hi everyone-
Sorry it has been forever and a day since I last updated you all. I ended up giving birth to my son Kaleb on Oct. 23, 2005 by emergency c-section after going 2 weeks past my due date. Since then I have been wrapped up in the joys of first time motherhood and then the holiday obligations.
I haven't neglected my art completely in this time. I have been busy at work creating a new web site, Protection Wings (which will be up and running within the month), that will be featuring my charity art pieces. I'm really excited about this venture and hope that it will be a success in helping raise awareness and money for the various causes.

| New Protection Fairy of Leukaemia |

I have just finished a painting of the Protection Fairy against Leukemia, which is the newest in my Protection Charity Series. If you haven't seen my other Charity Faerie/Angels you can view them at

The idea behind this one, since I couldn't find a symbol for the disease her wand of light is like a beacon that is shinning healing onto those with leukemia.

I am starting a series of fairies/angels for diseases called the Protection Angels and Faeries. I plan to contact the different organizations and offer them all the profits that I make and to see if they would like to use them also. I just felt I needed to give back a little because I've been given so much lately. They should be on my website within the week.
Each one so far is inspired by someone I know who has or has recovered from the disease. It's starting very personal and I hope it will grow.
The first one is for Breast Cancer
The second one is for Heart Disease, which my dad suffers from.
The last one is for Childhood Diabeties and is taken from a photo I took of my neighbor who has this. The scan came out terrible on this one, so please forgive the lack of color, because in real life it's very vibrant. I'm planning on adding a bracelet to the little girls arm, like the medical one she wears.
